We heart the Ice Cream Man

Oh man is this little sweetheart "wowing" our socks off these days. Just today she switched up her normal screachy noises with some actual "baabaabaabaa". She's loves laying on her belly and pushing herself backwards about the room. And she's had her first taste of avacado. I find myself enjoying her so much and wondering/praying over our relationship. Children do such amazing things to a parent's heart. It's sometimes hard to fully understand God feeling this way over us. It's a beautiful thought.
I love the middle shot with her flapping her arms in excitement. In the mornings or after nap time when I go to get her she starts flapping her arms and raising her legs and thumping them down on the bed over and over in excitement.

2011-12 The School Room

This school year welcomes a 3rd grader, a Kindergartener, a preschooler, and baby. This is our school room (AKA: used to be family room). In reality I know it is a play room where we will sometimes school. If this year is like past years, we start out down in the school room and half way through the year we're parked up at the kitchen table. I think it has something to do with living in Minnesota and seeking the warmth of higher levels. :)
Mighty oaks from tiny acorns grow.
Counter clock-wise around the room . . .
Yes that colored drawer unit is from our workbox days. My husband and I remember those days as the days we never saw each other beause I was ALWAYS doing prep work. It holds Legos sorted by color very nicely. :) Well when they're not on the floor that is. I think we may give the workbox bin a try this year. Yes school starts in about a week, I should really get on that.
There you go. It will change through out the year as we find what works and what doesn't work. Now for a few boxes from Amazon and HalfPrice.com to be delivered (a new globe, a gumball machine and a few books) and a major lesson planning session and we should be good to go.

Summer Vacation 2011
We usually trek up north to Duluth for our family get-away but this time we opted to head south to Wabasha. We spend 3 nights at a little hotel with a pool so one of their main activities (of which we have no photos) is swimming in the pool over, and over, and over again. Please bare with me and the gazillion photos, it was so hard to decide what to post.
Our first full day there we visited Kellog's Lark Toy Store. This place was amazing and oh how I wish it was closer to us. They have an indoor carousel with beautifully carved animals to ride on. There were lots of jitters from Agent E & The General but we coaxed them on for a ride and they were really happy to have done it.
Lots of hands on toys to be played with.

Real llamas (which we didn't see because we ran out of time). It was all the really good exploring toys not all the character related cheesy stuff. Did I mention a candy shop?
The next day we did the National Eagle Center. Can you believe the lecture was 45 minutes long and our kids sat through the entire talk? This lady was GOOD!
Then there was the local area parade. It was HOT but good fun.

Our last day, we took the long way home through the Lake Pepin area. We stopped to picnic and swim.
In the evenings EH would take the boys swimming while I put Shortcake down for the night, then the boys would come tip-toeing in to get in their PJs. The boys and I would head down to the hotel's breakfast nook area and have a night-night snack and read a story or one night I brought my Mac and we watched part of the Incredible Journey. We had just finished reading the book and it was extra fun to see the movie. EH found opportunites to get out and shoot some trains and local architecture. I'll wrap it up with a few of his shots.
