Lewis & Clark

I loved this study! We had so much fun reading and studying about Lewis and Clark (at least I don't think it was JUST me). We read the great stories from our history books: A First Book in American History, Stories of Great Americans, and Journeys in Time.

We read a story book passed on to us from family: Seaman's Journal. We loved that one, it's Lewis' dog's perspective of the journey!

Then we listened to an old-time audio story and wrapped it up with National Geographic's DVD Lewis & Clark's Great Journey West.
















Excuse me I think I have some pemmican stuck in my teeth.

Agent H & Geography

I bring you 2nd grade geography with Agent H. I taped an outline of the U.S. on the floor and Agent H taped the route of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. We had some discussion and spent time following up on some Wikipedia links Papa sent to us.

What direction does the Missouri River flow? I knew the answer but when I read it, it seemed too easy so then I started to panic. Ummm, does it flow South or North? I'm so glad the Internet is around for those "duh!" moments.

This assignment was a part of Bigger Hearts for His Glory, Heart of Dakota.

Baby wipes

Here's a peak inside my night stand. It's filled with these amazing baby wipes that my mom made for me (okay yes there are some Seventh Generation in there too). She cut up an old sooooft chenille robe and backed them with the softest flannel. I'm telling you these things wipe up a baby's hinny lickety-split and in comfy-style. I just run them under some warm water and wipe. If you love them at first sight as I did but don't have the time (or grandma) to sew them up. Get them here and support this wonderful family of missionaries. It's where I discovered them.

Valentine's Day 2011

One hundred and fifty valentines completed for homeschool co-op! The boys eagerly wrote their names or decorated their hearts out (seriously!). I love the variety of printable valentines that are available online! This year we enjoyed some dinos and rockets from cottage-industrialist.com (check out her printables!!) and a simple "I woof you" puppy for The General to water-color (I'm drawing a blank as to what site I found it at).



















We played some games with conversation hearts. I can send you the PDF if you'd like a copy (just don't ask me to post a PDF for download! For the time being that's way out of my blog-league!)

Oh be careful little . . .

A couple of days ago we were watching Kung Fu Panda and turning off the TV when the commercials come on - they were both very scary and inappropriate. Agent E leans over to me and says "I know why we're doing that mom" then he smiles and sings "Oh be careful little eyes what you see".

She blinked!

Agent E lately: "Mom, she did her first human thing. She blinked!" (or she moved, or she opened her mouth, etc)

Baby love

Your fists are tucked up under your chin, your body is snuggled up to me, and you have milk dribbling out the side of your mouth, your hair is standing on end as it does after it's been washed, the sweet noises you make as you nurse are a gentle rhythm. I love these moments with just you and me, just before I lay you down to bed for the night. My feelings for you are so raw and tender I want to capture them in my heart forever. I love who you are, who you will be . . . no strings, just love.
