Is there anything better than the sound of a baby's heartbeat swooshing through a doppler? Well maybe a wee one's first cries after birth, but that won't come for about 6 more months. Yes . . it's official. I went to the doc last week and I've been diagnosed 3 months "pregnant". Hip hip hooray! Not that we haven't already known for the past couple of months what all this nausea/tiredness is about. It's just now official. Expected due date is 8/8 of 08. Today EH and I heard the beat of our wee one's heart for the first time. I can't express to you the joy and yes relief that it brought.
Family, homeschool, a little about crunchy living and things loved from an introvert who finally found a way to communicate what's going on inside her head.

Enjoy the waters!
Silly nonesense is sometimes called after EH when he leaves for work in the morning. At times it's:
"Have fun storming the castle!", a classic Princess Bride quote.
This morning it was:
"Enjoy the waters!"
Where did H come up with that one? Beats me, but the Jane Austin lover in me thinks he's turning in to an appreciator of great literature. It sounds like something that would be said in one of her books as one departs to partake in the healing waters of Bath. I'm sure I just have Jane on the mind as there's an Austin festival playing on PBS on Sunday nights right now. 8PM for anyone who's interested. Thanks to my neighbor for the notice - just in time for me to catch the replay of Persuasion. Oh, how wonderful!
I bid thee a delightful weekend!

Little E is 2!
* When you wake up you turn on the light to wake up your brother, then knock on the door and strum the heat vent
* You magically turn into a puppy or kitty in the blink of an eye
* When you disagree with a request you say "SHHH!" as if to say I don't want to hear you. No you don't get away with such assumed authority.
* You look for papa immediately upon waking
* You love your nuk, your blue chenille blanket and your Snuggly bear
* You detest anything resembling fresh fruit or vegetables
* You love apple sauce, pizza, hot dogs, and raisins
* In the last week you have switched to taking one long nap over lunch
* You jump off of everything you can get away with
* You LOVE to sing (esp Jesus Loves Me, Deep & Wide, Ho Ho Ho Hosanna)
* When you get a snack or vitamin handed to you, you ask for one for your brother
* Your favorite things to say are:
"one more moment please" as you hold up a finger
"think, think, think" as you tap your finger on your temple
"surprise!" with your body spread like an "X"

Eight times
Tonight I had PBS on in the background and there was some special on whether or not the monarchy will last in England much longer. The host of the show was asking children how many times they had seen the queen. Children were replying "one time", "once", etc. and Little E declared to me with a great big grin "Eight times!"

Handmade Christmas
Oh the fun I had . . . I'm so glad I have some little girlies in my life!

A quilt for the girl who loves pink

Adventures in nursing (I must admit that my mom made the adorable cap - a replica of her own)

Barrettes for their lovely locks

A special place for tea parties or quiet moments

Christmas Memories
Yes it is the most pathetic tree ever. Truely a Charlie Brown tree!
A baby tiger for the boy who says as he's being tucked in at night "Mom I just want to BE a baby tiger!"
Buttons for the boys whose fingers twitch when they are told "No touch!"

Kiddie Records
Have you heard of this website? They have hundreds of records from the golden age. The copyrights have all expired and this website has worked to collect as many as they can and make them available to download for free. We've downloaded some as gifts and some we've been enjoying ourselves.
I was talking to my dad about The Lone Ranger record and he recalled that when he was growing up on the farm they had some tough times 'cause just as the program was about to air, it was time for the evening milking of the cows. Boy, makes me feel kind of guilty about being able to put a tape in to record a program for the boys to avoid their whining about missing a program they want to watch.
Some of our favorites:
- The Carrot Seed
- A Kiddie Koncert
- The Eagle and the Thursh
and so many more that I haven't listened to yet like Peter and the Wolf. I remember curling up on the floor next to the huge stereo, as a little girl, and listing to this record! I can still feel the fear and hear the boom boom of the bass drums as the hunters searched for the wolf.

Sleep over
H had his first sleep over with a buddy last month. There was much silly play to be had and of course they giggled way too long into the night. As I checked on them before I went to bed, they were two peas in a pod all snuggled up to each other. Raindeer and snowman pancakes fueled the fellows in the morning before they launched into building the biggest fort known to 4 year olds!
